Several guys in the gym do...I will pass. I train in some Merrell rock climibing shoes. Love them. When I squat, I broke down and bought some Oly shoes, BUT I plan on competing. Probably eventually snag some Converse Chuck Taylors to dead in. I have talked to several guys who have them. They seem to like them, but like said above, they NEED TO BE WASHED. Lol. The other complaint was that they are a bit to get used to as far as foot support. I have flat feet so I will pass.

they are good for deadlifting, absolutely shite for squatting in.

I wear them in the gym on days Im not squatting or olympic lifting, those days i wear my weighlfiting shoes.

One thing I like about wearing them is that they make my feet work harder and Im starting to redevelop my arches as a result, something orthotic soles never did

I would never squat in them. They'll never give the lifter the type a support a pair of Oly shoes does. Oly shoes make you feel like you're legs have been cast in cement with how supportive they are and I train for strength so I need to have the most support possible.

As for pulling, I'd probably wear them for that b/c I pull in socks so it'd probably feel very similar.

BINGO!!!

Although the only thing is I like them for squatting cuz for some reason my body mechanics seem right on as I'm able to "sit back" keeping my back straight when going up, pushing with the heals. Before with any shoes (although I've never tried Oly shoes) when I went down my hips everything were in position except I kept on bending forward a bit which is not what I wanted.

Still so far I like my Vibrams shoes as I would like to do deads in socks, but there is NO WAY my gym will let anyone train with just socks on, hell they barely tolerate chalk!!!
