For me, I've always enjoyed the training, and over time I've learned enough about PEDs to make decent progress. What has been most elusive for me has been sticking with a good diet.
I'm a firm believer that real progress in bodybuilding requires all three legs of the stool to be operational: training, supplementation and diet. Unless all three are working together your results are sub-optimal. Maybe those in their 20s can get away with a lackluster diet, but unless you're a genetic freak, those over 40 really need the diet to be in check and consistent.
My typical diet is oats/protein in the morning, protein/rice/veggie the next 3 meals, and a whey protein/peanut butter shake at night. Nothing sexy, but it works. If I'm cutting, the rice is less, and if I'm in maintenance or growth mode, the rice is more. Protein stays relatively constant (can be reduced on a high carb day), and the primary knob I'm turning is the carb source (i.e., the rice).
I recently tried the Elev8 cream of rice (COR). I know it's cheaper to just buy rice and grind it into a powder using a coffee grinder, but this brand of COR has about 10 different flavors, and helps with variety, which is helpful over the long haul.
You can make the COR and drink your whey protein separately, or if the flavor of your whey protein compliments your COR, you can add it after your COR is cooked.

This morning, I put two scoops of the Cookies and Cream Elev8 into a microwave bowl, added 8 scoops of water (1:4 ratio), then stuck in the microwave for 60 seconds, stir, then 30 seconds, stir and repeat until you get the COR consistency you want. After I pulled it out of the microwave and liked the consistency, I added two scoops of Cookies and Cream flavored powdered protein and mixed with my spoon. That was a FULL meal for me. Probably could have done half that much or reduced by 25%. In any event, a very easy, convenient meal for those trying to stay on point with the diet.
BTW, I'm not sponsored by Elev8 or get anything by this. Just thought you all might be interested. Two competing COR products that are popular as well are: (1) Bowls of Gains, and (2) Rice N Grinds. Those might be preferred. I haven't tried them yet.
