What's New?

One of the most talked about supplements recently is ZMA

zma Is suppose to significantly improve free test levels. studies back it up, and I've used it - but just on faith. have no proof it really works.

I hope this was a joke. Studies do not back up endogenous increases in free or serum testosterone from zinc, magnesium and vit B when administered to subjects who do not face any nutrient or mineral deficiencies.

eat foods high in zinc and magnesium
lamb, beef, oysters, pumpkin seeds, oats, spinach chard, beans, sunflower seeds, etc.

getting it from a supplement is not the same as getting it from the actual food.

Keep your diet to what has been provided for us (either my coincidence or some higher power)
and you'll be healthier than 95% of most people out there.

Care to explain

If you need a little extra (say you don't eat very many seeds or oysters/scallops),
then supplementing with zinc is probably a good idea but overall, the benefits
of eating the whole food is going to be the better choice because the
vitamins and minerals in food are synergistic.

You may be supplementing your zinc but your copper is low because
you are not eating the whole foods that supply this. (hint: the same foods
that supply the body with zinc usually have copper in them as well)
You then have an imbalance of copper:zinc which may the reason
a person has had anxiety for years. They haven't thought about how
all of the minerals and vitamins are meant to work together, not separately
on their own. Food is the perfect medicine.

Well that's not true, prime example, exogenous sources of calcium inhibit zinc absorption.

The point I'm trying to make it, existentially, it does not matter. Do I advise utilizing a diet that lacks certain vitamins and minerals? Absolutely not. But supplements exogenous sources of specific vitamins and minerals absolutely cannot hurt.

I'm not saying they hurt.
I'm saying a) why waste your money? b)everything you need is in food

The biggest boost I get from ZMA is due to the induced deep sleep. Nothing much aside that but I like the deep sleep so I take it.

If you get deep sleep from it then no doubt use it. Gotta go with how you feel and your body responds,
not what anyone else thinks. Lots of cool things happen when you stop reading things and just listen to your body.

Placebo is pretty cool.
I keep telling myself my food has steroids in it.
I'm blowing up...

I tried my hardest to get some placebo out of it but I just could not do it.
Nothing.

However, I will say I did avena sativa, maca root and d-aspartic acid all together
and my bio and free test was higher (70 ng/dl+, 4.5 ng/dl+) than my previous test (6 months ago).
I also had my nipple flair up (e2 must've raised as well) so something is there just not sure which one or if it took all three.
