I have a friend who is a big Cross Fit devotee. We went out the other night and I had to listen to her go on and on about her non existent biceps and then she laughs at me when we start talking actual bench, dl’s, and squat numbers. Granted the bench press is one of my weakest lifts, but I keep at it.
She and I are built about the same- 5’3” about 120 lbs. She is telling me she is benching 3 45's per side…so what that’s 270! I gotta say that’s pretty impressive, but I find it hard to believe. She had the same kind of wild numbers for her dead lift and squat. I'm no candy ass, but I can’t imagine those numbers for someone my or her size. I can’t say she’s being dishonest, because she seems to believe these are her numbers, so I have to think we aren't comparing apples to apples.
Does anyone know anything about Cross Fit? Do they actually do regular bench pressing with a bar and plates, or are they using some other method? Can she really have numbers like this??
