I eat veggies for vitamins and minerals same as walnut almond macadamia nuts for essential fats. I average about 30 grams of fiber a day just from that.

I don't count the fiber from baked pots or brown rice but that could kick it up to 40 grams a day.
I have always been regular bowel movement wise.

But several months ago for whatever reason I was constipated so I started adding in fiber gummies and Palumbo fiberlize for another 15 grams a day.

The extra fiber did nothing but make me bloated and still backed up.
I did a fast and a flush and started eating normally again and still had problems.

Interesting enough, it went away suddenly and was instantly back to normal in a few days.

I didn't figure out what the change was until I read a post about berberine and being regular and traced it back to the start of berberine supplementation.

I guess the point of all this is that I don't eat food for fiber just nutrients.

Also when supplementing fiber to restore regularity supplemental fiber did nothing for me.

If you’re taking extra fiber and you’re bloated and backed up, that most likely means you’re taking too much fiber.

The problem with the government opinions on health and diet/disease issues is that it is WAY more confident and authoritarian on issues that are still unknown and that it has no business being confident and authoritarian about. Don't even get us started on covid. Most of our objections here to government stances are based on our own personal experiences proving the government to be wrong. The great irony being that the government often catches up to us and finds that we were the ones who were right all along.
I agree with your skepticism with authoritarianism and propaganda, etc. I was responding in jest to a couple of gunslinger's (IMO, weak) points and illustrating the absurdity of expanding some of his assumptions beyond clever quips to anything approaching a rational though. Personally, I'm skeptical towards everything as a rule; and to power even more so (and there are few entities more powerful than a government). Still, I recognize that governments are not monolithic, e.g., any motivations of an agency that maintains nutrition data must be inherently less harmful versus, e.g., those that are motivated to shape population-scale beliefs or ideology and protected by secrecy, that use classified codenames, etc.

As I have said before....although calorie is a calorie is not technically correct, it is in practice a good enough rule to follow.

In the same way that Newtonian mechanics is technically incorrect, as it falls apart at the sub-atomic level which is where Einstein stepped in with general relativity. But guess what?.... We still use "laws" like FORCE=MASS X ACCELERATION every day (even to put people on the moon if needed) even though they are technically incorrect.

I have been 'flexible' dieting for last 10 years now. Just over 50. Have not done cardio in 4 years (not a good thing).

This was me last week. TRT @150/week only for past year. Being 'lazy' really. Worst shape (conditioning wise) I have been in 6 years. Been on icecream kick, about 2 tubs a week. My wife has been buying mini snickers and putting them in the freezer, and I seem to eat a few a day. Eating pizza and quite a bit of it twice a week, Friday is always pizza night at our house and our weekly poker game has started to order in pizza so....why not?

Just pulling back cals now a bit. A little late for summer, but I treat a cal as a cal and I understand what my energy requirements are, and can eat to them. If I go out for mexican, I am eating 2 baskets of chips and cheese dip BEFORE my meal comes and dont think I am skipping my rice.

I have (in the past) spent 2 years on keto in my 20's. Fuk that. Life is too short to not enjoy eating. Any yes, my total cholesterol is 140 and tri-glycerides are >50. (and I come from a history of high bp, heart problems, high cholesterol on both sides of my family)

IF>>>>IF I would ever consider eating in such a restrictive manner, I better get unbelieve results from it. Again, in worst condition I have been in in over 7 years. Taken last week. I knowingly let my bf drift up as I have not been very motivated. But dropping back down now. (and still eating good foods)

Great, bro. Your cardiovascular disease risk, lipids, et cetera would be far worse eating exclusively fatty animal meats for fat/lipid.

They have been wrong about health and nutrition FAR more than they have been right. Whole books could be written on the complete bullshit the government has been pushing on nutrition and medicine alone. All provable bullshit.

1) Seed oils are good for us

2) We "need" carbs

3) If we eat just meat we will suffer from all manner of deficiencies

4) High cholesterol automatically equals heart disease

5) Fiber is a nutrient

6) Fiber is essential

7) Gout is caused by eating meat

8) Eggs will kill you

9) A "balanced" breakfast = orange juice, toast, a banana and a big bowel of sugary cereal.

10) Smoking is actually good for you! (I shit you not, it was a thing)

There are hundreds more. This is shit the government and Drs have been pushing hard for since the 70s and look at how sick and obese the american people are compared to 60 years ago. Its been so pounded into peoples heads that "seemingly" intelligent people on this very board buy into it without question. Look at what the cancer rate is compared to just a few years ago.

That was my point to go along with the thread they recommend fiber for constipation and it made it worse.

And you dont think rich's supplement use had more to do with his health issues?

I have nothing against anyone using anything, but I think it is a stretch comparing a 50 year old guy who has stayed in shape 9-12% bf for the last decade and is taking mostly only trt doses vs a guy who is on probably everything AAS, peptides, growth...etc.

Anyway, you have made these threads before about how great this works for you. Post up some progress pics. What is your current start of condition?

I have posted up pics. You were a part of those threads. So did testboner. I did a full thread with measurements, weight loss and before and after pics. Kept a log of what I ate for a while as well. Of course no one believed it...lol

As for Rich I think it was likely his use of recs or slin that got him. But I'm sure the 500-1000 grams of sugar per day he was eating probably didn't help much.

Ok that was like what?... a year ago. Just wanted to see what kind of progress you have made. To be honest, I dont remember your shape being all that good now. So if you posted up pics and were at like 6-7% bf, maybe it would be cause to reconsider your ideas. If you are flat and no where near 10% than I would probably continue to dismiss your ideas. I am open to being wrong and always willing to learn from others.

So post up some current pics so we can see what a year of progress on such an intake can do.

Lets be honest here. You and a few others will always reject my ideas. No matter what I post. Its not a matter of learning its a matter of you and a few others trying to prove what you have been told was right was correct. The pics I posted showed a 51 pound weight loss in 5 months while on over 5,000 calories per day. If you were genuinely interested it might be different. Carry on eating your sugar and justifying it. I'll keep doing what works for me. :)
