Thanks for your support everyone! I'm on wifi at the airport and it won't let me multi-quote. I nominated myself for this contest at RR's suggestion, and they accepted me. So, this is a new contest with a newer organization, but will feature some of the best middleweight strongwomen from the US and Europe. Should be a really good contest!

Still training, have been following a diet from one of my strongwoman friends. Losing little by little, but still need to do a trial run of the water manipulation before we leave for Glasgow on October 2. Plan is to lose 15 more lbs and get on the plane at 175, lose 10 lbs in water before the weigh-in, then hit the buffet post-haste after I step off the scale.
Still doing DC training 4 days a week with my buddy Art, and events on Saturday or Wednesday. Events consist of sandbag carry for distance, 200 lb sled push/drag medley for 50 ft each way, and DB one arm press. My farmer's handles should be here next week, and we do DLs or rack pulls on Thursdays. Training is coming along nicely, just have some make-up work to do on farmer's, but I have 6 weeks to get up to speed. Goal is 200 lb farmer's 50 ft one way and 50 ft back. Contest weight will be 150 lbs one way and 200 lbs back.
PRs so far on events -
DB press - 75 lbs x 1 rep.
18 inch Rack pulls - 425 no straps, 465 with versa grips.
Sandbag - 120 lbs x 300 ft. Event is for max distance, 165 lb sandbag.
200 lbs sled push/drag - 55 seconds, approximately. Did this on carpet, so slooooowww.
Farmer's - 175 x 50 ft up and back.

Thanks! I was going to be working with him, but we kept missing each other, and I haven't heard back from him. I think he's just busy. So, I'm following Amy S.'s diet and cardio recommendations. I will try to get ahold of Matt this weekend.

8/18, Events, Farmer's and Sled Push/Drag

I have a cold/flu virus (son started kindergarten last week and is sick already. So, I'm sick. Really?!) and had trouble getting motivated to train today. DING DONG Fed Ex dropped off my new farmer's handles. Joy! Now I must train!

Farmer's - 50 ft one way, set down handles, regrip, 50 ft back - warm-ups, 120 lbs; work sets, 150 lbs, 170 lbs, 180 lbs. Contest weight is 150 one way and 200 back. Carried the 170s with the regrip in about 22 seconds. Goal is 20 seconds. Hauled the 180s at a good clip all the way down, then set them down and regripped. Got almost to the finish and lost the grip on my right hand. Set the handle down and looked at my palm - had the worst callus tear I've ever had. Thankfully it didn't bleed, but it stung pretty good. Came home later and asked my husband to help me cut off the dead skin. He looked at me like "Disgusting." Refused to help. Sigh. So, for the thousandth time, I fackin did it myself. He also asked me why I didn't wear gloves when training the events. *eye roll*

Sled Push/Drag with right hand callus tear - 180 lbs or so. I'm not sure how much the sled weighs. Contest weight is 220. Did two runs, best time was a little over 30 seconds.

If my hand heals well enough, will do DB one arm press and rack pulls next week.

8/22, Cardio

30 minutes on a recumbent bike that had tv at the student rec center. Did 15 minutes steady state, then 10 sets of 1:1 intervals, sprints then just light pedaling. Rec center is sparse with a lot of Nautilus machines, some free weights, DBs, leg press, etc.. Good cardio options, though.

Things are/were going very well! I will do a write up this weekend to detail the contest, but I landed somewhere in the middle of the competition. Will explain later.
