This isn't a democracy, it's a republic."
I agree but there is so much more
the main difference between a democracy & a republic lies in the limits placed on government by the law which the people select
Both forms of government tend to use a citizens vote to elect politicians to adhere to their interests. In a republic, a constitution/ charter of rights protects certain inalienable rights that cannot be taken away by the government, even if it has been elected by a majority of voters. In a real democracy the majority is not restrained in this way and can impose its will....Most modern nations are
democratic republics with a constitution, which can be amended by a popularly elected government by the people
so all we can say is a democracy is where the majority rules and a republic is where we have a constitution/charter that protects the minority from being over run
we are becoming more and more a representative democracy(we really are with a Constitution) But also a REPUBLIC article 4 sec 4
lol rem China is a REPUBLIC also
I believe Obama was being more of a dictator for a group of people---using his power (given to him) and Trump is trying or doing the same just in a different direction
only time will tell
and a change of subject ......we had a local softball team (16-18) girls----one girl was just killing it ---22homeruns in 10games ---scoring over 70% of her teams runs
they won the regional last week .....now a protest is going on
why??? u say
well the 18yr old girl at 6'2 is a preop transgender ----still a male in my books---yet identified as female
so is it cheating???
