Hey Brethren, just had a question for you fellas as my buddy (age 49) got some bloodwork done and everything was good except his eGFR was 61 and creatinine was I believe 1.42. The doctor said let's do another test in a week, but this time make sure you drink more water. He retested again and this time eGFR was 62 and creatinine stayed the same. Doc said it was because he was eating to high of protein diet although, I don't see it after he told me his meal breakdowns and he barely has time to work out, but was extrememly stressed out. What could he do to get his creatinine down, would astragulus work or any other supplement? Thanks a ton!

Been there.. For two decades now. My previous GP said he thought it was fairly normal for large weight lifting men he saw. Lots of muscle, lots of constant muscle breakdown and repair, lots of protein coming in and being metabolized and utilized and excreted. I've always had high BUN, creatinine, etc, the kidney markers. We can get bigger but the kidneys can only do so much.

I think I'm going to give FD's suggestion above, a shot. Thanks, FD.

The test will give a false high reading if he has worked out hard as FT stated above the break down of tissue fucks up the test.
No workout at all for 3 days before test, been there and done that jazz.
