Legs days for me means 4-8 minutes on the stepper first. Depending on what the focus is that day I may step differently... Say through my heels if it's a hams focus day. All upper body workouts start with rotator cuff work. It takes a while to get through so that is my warmup for upper body.

To those of you that don't warm up, you will some day. I hope it never happens but that first injury will change your mind.

I warm up by starting off lifting light.

No cardio....

You want to do a lot more than that since you're goal is to increase your numbers. Foam roll, some band work, and a dynamic warm up. 10min minimum before you begin with warm up lifts.

I have been fortunate enough to see the Chinese and the Eastern bloc countries train in olympic lifting. They dont do cardio warm ups. Each to their own but does anyone here seriously believe that the best wouldn't do it if they thought it beneficial? I have given my perspective and dont intend to reply here again. This topic isnt even mentioned amongst the worlds best strength and con specialists.

I've had the pleasure of training with some of the members of the US World Team and they do in fact perform a dynamic warmup before they begin training. I've also spoke to coaches who have been to other countries and met a few big lifters from other countries and they don't just grab a bar and begin to lift. I hope you're not basing this off of some youtube video you watched.

Nope I am not. Dynamic warm up is what I am talking about. Not 5 mins on the stepper.

5 min foam roll, leg swings, push ups, jump rope, toes to hand, overhead squats with the bar on most days.

Do you hate lifting? Do you hate heavy training ?? Do you hate eating protien ? Everyone hates something but they do it, because part of training Smart is warming up, I guess whining counts? Lol I'm kidding ! Well you don't need to go on treadmill or any machine for that matter , you can play air guitar and Jump around , calisthenics etc yes you can get the blood flowing doing a weights circuit just as quickly. This isn't rocket science and for the record no fighters don't need to run unless they prefer it, you can warm up , get stamina and increase skills doing assortment of drills . I loosen my joints doing my knife and sword moves with a light training blade - serves as warm up , blood on loosen joints etc. plus more practice . If you box shadow box for warm up - footwork and hitting perfect. Jumping jacks . **** chicks hard lol just do something it don't have to be cardio machines. I warm up every workout but can't remember last time I set foot on a machine. However get MP3 player and listen to audiobook or music you love while on treadmill. The list is endless

Looks like over reacting is a problem for you. Is it that time if month? Maybe you should study yoga to learn to control emotions - I hear it helps good luck

OMG. What is your problem with me. You know I make these posts to help people. And yet here you are getting personal with an anonymous guy on the internet! Completely unnecessary.

My warms are the same every day.light stretching first.then I use the speed ball for about 5 minutes solid.i have a spin bike next to me which I jump on and do another 5 minutes.so 10 minutes and ready to go.the reason I do this is the speed ball uses all my upper body and really loosens every thing up and the bike warms my lower body.i don't go hard with my warm up but it really helps me personally after suffering from various injuries and surgery.

Warming up to me is just as important mentally as it is physically. Almost a ritual if you will. It's a time to get my head right for tearing my body down. As the years roll on time catches up with us. Our bodies start to creek a little more, soreness sets in, old injuries become more apparent, etc...

I've made the joke before that I'm like an old hydraulic pump. It takes a while to warm up but when I do, you just can't stop me :)

I usually start cardio with a slower song at a slower pace. Most of the time I'm sore in multiple spots. Just part of it for me.

I increase the speed, the intensity of the music and in 7 to 9 minutes I'm rarin to go. Then I'm ready for any stretching and cuffs. I have found it best to stretch troubled parts as it makes it easier to work with at the beginning. Nothing major, just light and it helps.

It's like anything else, do what you want but I can say this, after seeing what it does for me now, I wish I would have done it all along.
