I haven't read any of the personal attack bullshit in this thread. But I would like to say that many pages ago, I commented that I believe that this "Dont panic, it isnt easy to contract ebola" was for PR and panic control.

Just from observation, the hospitals that successfully treated ebola with no contraction by the healthcare workers were in nebraska and atlanta....both had negative pressure quarantine rooms. Texas Presbyterian didnt have these rooms and had at least 2 infections. Occam's Razor....its airborne and it is easier to contract than previously thought--or stated anyway. The basic reproduction number for ebola is 2 when not confined to a negative pressure quarantined facility. The spanish flu had a reproductive number of 2. 100 million people figured that out the hard way.

Somebody ought to kick that second nurse in the face with sterile boot covers for working on that first ebola patient and then hopping on a plane to cleveland. Idiot. You all that think that with all the technology in the world, anything can be subdued. You are wrong. Look at the pattern of ebola...20 deaths here and 130 there starting years ago....but you fail to see that the trend in its virulence and lethality are increasing.

I am sure some appreciate the "devil may care" attitude out of some of you guys thinking that this cannot happen, but only a fool wouldn't acknowledge the deadly potential this disease represents to a superpower like the USA when so many people still have limited access to healthcare. If this shit showed up in detroit....those that posted the "did you touch the blood, feces, or vomit of an infected ebola patient--no, you dont have ebola" flow chart better be ready to fiddle while rome burns.

Failing to acknowledge that nature is more potent than any man made design is hubris. Those that do not agree are arguing their healthcare science over biological evolution. You can contain something like this...but as long as there is an african fool hungry for baboon ass, you will always have this problem. The amount of resources expended for one act of stupid is unsustainable. Beat it this time at the cost of billions....another boon will die and there will be some asshole there waiting to eat it. by the way: i'm here in DFW...my lady friend's ex is a nurse, and was just "volunteered" to work the isolation unit at Presby .... why? because 4 nurses just up and quit this morning.

it's not necessarily the disease that will cause the mass hysteria, but the people unwilling to work in the hospitals, especially Union members, who have the right to strike in most cases. What you're left with is a health care system unable to care for anyone, from ebola to child birth to burn victims, because of lack of staff.

Of course certain extra measures and procedures would be taken but it's not a competely different field just bc this is Ebola and one might not have experience with it. I never said one way or another whether I thought quarantine or bringing the patient here was a good idea. Obviously now you're beginning to make things up since you have no basis for any of your statements.
