The bodies are about two weeks away. We’re at the same place (total deaths) Italy was 2 weeks ago.
They’re on pace to have more casualties than China within a week.

It's messed up because hospitals are NOT protecting their employees. Initially they stated to use "Airborne Precautions" but now it's considered "Droplet Precautions" but I guess there is a mask shortage and so hospitals are not using the masks for preventative measures. So those that work in the hospital, are getting exposed. No quarantine either. Hospitals don't have the capacity to do this due to lack of bed space so they are sending people home! So potentially more are infected. The process to test is delayed as well. 3-4 days it takes for a confirmation of the virus. Throw in the fact that employees are being exposed and forced to go home. It is a perpetuating cycle. Not a proactive approach at all. I would pull your wife in a heartbeat with her underlying condition of asthma. She could have the virus for 3-4 days before showing any symptoms. By then, it could be too late.

All is not doom and gloom.
New data shows majority of covid infections may be asymptotic which would significantly decrease case data rates and complication percentages.
Promising treatments should be coming soon.
For now though: it’s important to stop the spread through isolating.
We have to ride this out until we have herd immunity (75%+ of the population wither with antibodies or inoculated). Going to take time. If using these new treatments to decrease complications then governments may choose to let the virus spread so we can gain immunity without waiting a year for a vaccine.
At some point you just have to say “fuck it” and not let your economy die.

I'm betting you are spot on. And sadly exposure is not being taken seriously. Someone comes in that is symptomatic, they are sending them home. Sure, they swab them, and it wasn't until recently, they are making a list of employees who are potentially exposed and could be infected. So the employee goes home. 3-4 days later, the exhibit symptoms. This is potentially all before the swab test come back with results. And to add insult to injury the hospital system I work for is claiming to have zero confirmed cases. Why? Well, because they are no longer at the hospital. They were sent home. So a little play on words allows them to twist the truth. It's BS.

Italy did not shut down like the US has when they were where we are now. Theres 31 cases in our state and everything except grocery and convenient stores have shut down. That did not happen in Italy anywhere where the cases were much higher. Plus,most people who get it self quarantine and recover at home within 2 wks. Yes, contracting the virus can cause permanent damage to your lungs and we,ll have to deal with that. A high % of cases are in a few states and as long as we all stay home for the most part we can handle those states with help from others not getting overwhelmed. Because the US took drastic measures to gain control of the spread early it will not get out of control like it did in Italy.

Jin, I think you're wrong, but let's just wait and see. On tax day (4/15), we'll be at the explosion point you're talking about. Let's revisit it then and see where we're at. If you're right and I'm wrong, I'll admit it. Will you do the same?
In my area, everything is shut down. Bars, restaurants, churches, barber shops. They don't want you going to work, and if so the employer is supposed to be taking everyone's temperature. (I've opted for the anal thermometer!!) Not sure what else could be done. As it is right now, we've completely crashed the local economy.
Oh wait, a cheap, old, well-tested, safe anti-malaria drug appears to be extremely effective in treating the virus. Maybe we should be handing those out at the bars and restaurants instead and save the economy from melting down. Of course, it would be more difficult to throw Trump out of office if the economy is in decent shape.
