Chucks are better for deadlifting IMO because the canvas has a lot of give and if you pronate or anything there isn't much protection of the ankle if you are walking your squats out.
How would wearing a shoe that compresses be good for anything? I'll answer the question for you... it isn't. That means it has a low transfer of energy and so you're losing power generated when you pull which isn't efficient at all. You want the greatest efficiency when transferring energy you're creating to pull the weight from the start to finish position.
