    I'd use ethyl lactate instead of guiacol but EL is getting pricey and limited suppliers. I'd say test acetate instead of TP as well. but give it a go.

    I for one dont like the bottle top filters unless real prefiltering (not those overlays you put in over the filter membrane. Using a buchner flask with 0.8 micron or so fiilter paper it gets the big shit out. Don't change anything if its working but glass is recommended by most.

    I always though PES would fall apart with any sort of filtering. I've cracked those plastic bottles b/c using both PVDF and Nylon membranes. Animal used to sell these small whatman 0.8 micron non sterile prefilters that helped hand filtering with the little 33mm diameter (ie Millipore) as well...

    Those media bottles are only good if you brewed something and had no sterile vessels to use on a temp basis. Run ANYTHING except that kool-aid looking liquid they show on their site or youtube and you will have cracks like crazy and shit will leak out.

    It would be a nice biz idea of someone to sell sterilized stoppers (say bags of 5) or pre-sterilzed glass media bottles and caps (45mm and 33mm).

    Wouldn't methanol be more effective ? The key is unless you have an autoclave with sealing bags (helps if you have friends in tatooing) these ways work well.
