I've had this on for a while now , smokin !

I have a confession.. I'm 54. Spent my whole life listening to almost everything. Rock, metal, classical, hip hop. It is only in the last 10 years or so I've learned to appreciate jazz. Not sure why. I guess I wasn't ready for it way back when.

I was watching a tv show (can't remember what it was) and a character said "listen for the notes they are not playing." That actually helped a lot.

Another person once told me that music is a form of communication. But in jazz the instruments are each asking other instruments questions. They each answer and ask a question back. Kind of a fun way of approaching it?

Ya know.. That may have jogged a memory loose in my old noggin. Miles Davis. I wonder if the TV show was Bosch? Bosch always talked Miles Davis.

Miles Davis. Brilliant, as my English friend would say. :)

He was one of us for lack of fancy words , deluded , driven by violence , drug addicted , angry , arrogant and quick tempered , abusive to almost everyone around him ... yet he had an amazing innovative soft and talented bluebird he kept caged some where deep inside him in a Charles Bukowski'esuqe way he would let out to sing now and then
