Standing presses are certainly a good exercise, but I have stuck almost entirely to doing them seated for many years. I find that I can go quite a bit heavier when seated, and that doing so is easier on my lower back.

Same as this for me too. And I never wear a belt for anything except heavy squats and heavy deadlifts.

Mrs Flex does standing barbell presses though and she doesn't wear a belt either. Her Max is about 80lbs for 1-3 reps.

Seated, with belt for old guys like me!
Take care of your low back now; you'll be glad you did.
My compliments of your avatar!
Serge Nubret, great aesthetically pleasing , old school

Good night!...The title alone sounds excruciating!!!!...I've tried my old seated military presses and it feels like an elephant is standing on my shoulders! (and that's with the bar only!)....Couldn't imagine standing!!!....:eek:o_O

Personally, I don't use a belt for any assisted lifts.
