Nice pressing, Flex. Again, good luck to you on the meet. As you're lifting in NY, I'll likely be lifting near the same time in Idaho. People in the Midwest better be ready to feel some shockwaves coming at you from both sides.

Blowing the dust off this journal.

I stopped journaling after my last meet in April because honestly after 6+ years of non-stop journaling on various forums I just needed a break from doing it.

Then in July I tore my bicep tendon at the shoulder in my right arm. OHIP won't allow me to fix it. FML.

So anyway I haven't been to the gym since July 18th (I think).

I am planning on competing in April at the RPS Spring Supremacy in Utica so I started training again today and my shoulder is still in agony. Doc said it should take 6-12 weeks to heal. It's been longer than 12 weeks with zero improvement.

I am going to try to go see another sports doc, but anyway...after 3 months away from the iron I felt like shit. Did squats.

Prepare to be underwhelmed:

Did bench today and it was quite pathetic.

I will say that I had less pain in my shoulder today than yesterday but it just felt weak. Didn't trust myself.

This is what I did:

Bench Press:

135 x 6
135 x 6
135 x 6

185 x 3
185 x 3
185 x 3
185 x 3
185 x 3

Tricep Pressdowns

150 x 8
150 x 8
150 x 8
150 x 8
150 x 8


That's it. I'll do upper back tomorrow and deadlifts Friday.

Got an appointment with another sports doc on Nov 25 to get a 2nd opinion on this shoulder issue....

Only 2 weeks out, that's great. Start telling yourself now no heavy presses till you get some answers. Looking forward to competing with you and the Mrs again this year, let's make sure it can happen!

Thanks dude. Not sure if Lisa is going to compete in April but she will be there with me.

I am going to try to light a fire under her ass though....figuratively speaking of course.... :D

Did not keep track of weight and reps today but I did 8 sets of pulldowns, 8 sets of seated cable rows, and 5 sets each of shrugs on the standing calf machine and (*gasp*) cable bicep curls.

Did not train on Friday because I was in agony. Back at it today.

Some very meagre improvement this week on squats. Legs feel fine but un-racking and re-racking is agony on my shoulder.

OK; I am doing a 3 day update because nothing spectacular happened this week. I know it's only my 2nd week back but I never expected I would lose so much strength in 3.5 months.....

Bench on Wednesday was more or less carbon copy of last week; very disappointing. Shoulder pain was brutal and am just weak as fuck. DId a bunch of triples at 185. FML.

Did upper back/traps yesterday it was OK. Did pulldowns (about 8 sets) Hammer Strength Rows (6 or 7 sets; did not count), Calf Machine Shrugs and cable curls (supersets, 5 sets each).

Today I did deadlifts and it was disappointing. Some wrist pain, grip strength feels gone and my hands are soft; need to toughen them up again. They are actually red and sore right now. Anyway I did a bunch of triples up to 315, then singles up to 365 and did 3 singles at 365. Sad.

That said I am nowhere near as sore and broken as last week. I think another 2-3 weeks I should be moving decent weight on all lifts except bench. No idea what will happen there but I am looking forward to getting some info from a new sports doc next Friday.
