Squat day

I will start by saying that I must have slightly tore my left lat during deadlifts last Thursday. I kinda felt and heard something but 615 was a PR for me so I was so amped up and ecstatic that it did not bother me. Well this past Saturday, I got out of the shower and noticed some bruising from my lat down to my tricep. There was no pain or anything so I thought nothing of it. I showed my buddy and he adviced me to take it easy for a while. Ok now to training.

5min bike warm up

225 x 10

315 x 8

405 x 5

455 x 5

495 x 3

585 x 2( new post accident PR)

45 degree single leg press

3 plates per side x 10 x 10 x 10

3 plates per side x 10 x 10 x 8

Standing Single Leg Curl

45lbs x 10 x 10 x 8
45lbs x 10 x 10 x 5

Calf Raise machine

stack x 12

stack x 12

Crunch

20

20

20 mins solid state cardio( incline treadmill walk)

Knees were screaming so no leg ext. After workout, we tried to figure out what did the lat injury effect. I laid on a bench press and went thru the motion with no problem. I then went to a lat pulldown machine and you could feel that something was not 100% in the whole motion. Nothing serious but Im sure with more weight I would feel it more. I will just back it off some and use the rest of this week as a deload.

Tough injury... I wonder if it was the rear delt though.., we could sit here and guess all day so best bet is get your ass to a doc. Good luck.

Man, thanks!!!! Im kicking myself in the azz for not even thinking of the delt. As for seeing the Doc.... I'm military and though it is free to see the guy, I am worried that he will tell me no lifting period.

If its possible that if it doesn't get proper attention and care beyond first aid, will you ever be able to lift heavy again? You have some wicked abilities, so take care of em bro

So I took POB's advice and went to see the Doc. He did just what I thought and told me to rest not just the lat but lay off the weights. I did just that and I'm going crazy. On another note, there is a small powerlifting meet on a military base near me. I want to compete but I will have to see how the lat is feeling. I have been looking at my plans and my numbers look like this:

Squat
1st: 575
2nd: 600
3rd: 615

Bench
1st: 455
2nd: 475
3rd: 505(only because I have done 500 before and it is time to pass that)

Deadlift
1st: 575
2nd: 615
3rd: 630

You are a machine bro, keep it up but I'm with you always teetering on the edge of causing some longterm damage, you definitely don't need that. Good luck at the meet!

Found out the this powerlifting meet is not running in the normal order. It will run Bench, Squat and then Dead. Same day weigh in so I will likely be 260lbs as the meet starts at 6pm and after a day of carbs. I got videos of my projected opening and second attempt on bench.
