I'm a HUGE fan of paying almost the same in Tax's as nations that have guaranteed health care and receiving... I guess a really strong military.
I personally don't see the benefit of a healthy and educated electorate. Also very satisfied with a deteriorating infrastructure and slowly privatizing prison system. I think this country is really on track to be Great Again...
All sarcasm.

This is a catastrophe of a policy. Yesterday was a particularly dark day for american politics. Here is a list I found of what will be considered a pre-existing condition in the new health care. That is to say your insurance will no longer cover these conditions. Also important to note that all government employees at a higher level can keep their current way better plans.
"AIDS/HIV, acid reflux, acne, ADD, addiction, Alzheimer's/dementia, anemia, aneurysm, angioplasty, anorexia, anxiety, arrhythmia, arthritis, asthma, atrial fibrillation, autism, bariatric surgery, basal cell carcinoma, bipolar disorder, blood clot, breast cancer, bulimia, bypass surgery, celiac disease, cerebral aneurysm, cerebral embolism, cerebral palsy, cerebral thrombosis, cervical cancer, colon cancer, colon polyps, congestive heart failure, COPD, Crohn's disease, cystic fibrosis, DMD, depression, diabetes, disabilities, Down syndrome, eating disorder, enlarged prostate, epilepsy, glaucoma, gout, heart disease, heart murmur, heartburn, hemophilia, hepatitis C, herpes, high cholesterol, hypertension, hysterectomy, kidney disease, kidney stones, kidney transplant, leukemia, lung cancer, lupus, lymphoma, mental health issues, migraines, MS, muscular dystrophy, narcolepsy, nasal polyps, obesity, OCD, organ transplant, osteoporosis, pacemaker, panic disorder, paralysis, paraplegia, Parkinson's disease, pregnancy, restless leg syndrome, schizophrenia, seasonal affective disorder, seizures, sickle cell disease, skin cancer, sleep apnea, sleep disorders, stent, stroke, thyroid issues, tooth disease, tuberculosis, ulcers"

I think it's also important to note that the long standing separation of church and state was infringed upon heavily yesterday. People may not understand the true intention of that executive order. Which is to give religious lobbyist groups a seat at the table AKA a voice AKA put their money in politicians pockets.
Not good.

Also yesterday Desiree Fairooz was convicted of disorderly conduct (a made up and undefinable charge) and protesting in the capital (AKA the most basic right the founding fathers fought for). Now even if you disagree with her politics as many I am sure do you must understand that a non violent protester was convicted of made up charges by the people she opposed in an attempt to silence her voice and make a statement that any who voice discontent will be prosecuted. Not a good look america.

Dark day for the "Land Of The Free" LOL

Let the fear mongering begin...

Until the final version becomes law, everything else is pure speculation or outright bullsh*t...

I had no idea how Obamacare would affect me until it became law...I gotta admit, at first it sounded good, then the following happened:

My monthly premium doubled last year, and had gone up approximately 8-10% each prior year.
My deductibles tripled.
My doctor's visits went from $5 each to $15 each.
My generic prescriptions doubled from $5 each to $10 each.
My health care provider change it's formulary and wouldn't cover as many drugs. Thus, what used to cost me $5 was now costing me $40 dollars or more.
My PCP got pissed off about all the new "rules" and turned his practice into a "concierge" service.
Thus, I had to change PCP's twice in the last 5 years.

In a nutshell, Obamacare for me sucks *ss.
Then again, perhaps if your a budding socialist all that sounds pretty good...#feelthebern...:)...

I haven't read the bill. The devils are usually found in the details, and I'm neither particularly optimistic about the bill's future nor the quality of the bill itself. Our government just doesn't do very many things well.

It barely passed the house. Apparently those in the Freedom Caucus think it's not as bad as the first one.

It now has to go through the senate. It will no doubt get modified more in the senate by the time it leaves the senate if or when it does.

I would like to see the federal govt out of the healthcare / health insurance business - at least where those of us who are insurable and who are already able to pay our own way are concerned.

But it appears that most on both sides of the aisle are now convinced that they must support govt involvement in health insurance, subsidies as needed for both insured and insurers, insurance coverage for those with pre-existing conditions, 26 year olds being on Mom & Dad's plans, etc.

Government is supposed to protect you and your rights, not babysit you and pay your doctor bills (or handle your retirement, or educate you, or....). I don't know when the whole concept was introduced, but I am guessing it was by Mussolini-types.

And having insurance for something that already exists is like making a wager on a game that already ended. Stop calling it insurance. Subsidizing pre-existing conditions is welfare, just call it what it is.

I switched jobs last year and went into contract work, i.e. I was paid a rate with no benefits. I had to get insurance (divorce and child, court order, etc) so I go to the exchange and find out I will be paying around 2x as much as before for a huge deductible plan. Plus, as I started to claim things that were supposedly covered I was told they weren't (one receptionist actually said "they make you think that but you have to read the small print"). I was on the plan 9 months, paid thousands of dollars, and got absolutely nothing in return. (Now have a regular job with bennies.)

Plus my family doctor decided all the required changes were B.S. and decided to retire early instead, and commit more time to playing electric guitar in his rock band "Malpractice" heh. Keep your doctor? Yeah, I suppose if hadn't pissed him off.

So you want the government to protect you from bad people foreign and domestic. Probably think they should protect you from animals IE animal control ect.
BUT not from virus, bacteria and cancer. Ok... Makes sense.
Call it welfare but health services cost more HERE then any other country. Not only are the procedures more but the insurance ends up costing more per person then it does in tax for other countries. Not to mention we already are fairly close on the Tax scale. We would rather spend it "protecting" you from IDK ISIS you probably think or some other complete BS war for profit and power nonsense. In the last 67 years they have "protected" you from Korea (lol that worked well), Vietnam, Iraq, Iraq again, Afghanistan Was it worth the Tab? Would you rather have that or not let your fellow man die?

Health care costs is government problem as much as North Korea testing nuclear weapons is a medical doctor problem.

And when was it last tried? Heh. Government started screwing with the free market in healthcare the very early '20th century (during the rise of fascism/progressivism). Their blueprint is to introduce programs, get citizen's attached to them so they cannot be taken away, and then grow them in an unending cycle of failure. But there is an end, an end none of us want to consider.

The list of social programs introduced by the progressives 100 years ago that still exist (who am I kidding, they all still exist) but are now much larger and everyone considers them failing unless government does something about it is mind boggling. Healthcare is just one of them.

I don't understand how we can repeat this failing cycle countless times over a century and there are people that will still say, "this time the Congress will fix it". smh

In short, there is not a person alive who has seen free market healthcare in the U.S.

Socialists want everyone to feel it's their moral obligation to provide free healthcare to their fellowman. Then again, they also want everyone to feel it's ok to kill an unborn child. GTFOH with your fake moral hypocrisy...
