Thank you so much. It is nice to hear someone that knows my struggles. I have stage four cirrhosis and stage 3 kidney disease. I ended up on life support in 2018...
Are you on Dialysis?

Just trying to identify what you meant by life support.

EAA's, HMB-FA (free acid)?

(I'm unsure, just giving you some things to research)...

Creatine is not bad for your kidneys. It just increases your creatinine levels in blood. Many of us bodybuilders have high creatinine because of the high protien diet and our constant breakdown of muscle tissue during training. Ask your Dr for a CystatinC test. It’s more accurate for us bodybuilders for determining kidney function. My creatinine was 1.6 and gfr at 56. I stopped taking creatine and didn’t work out for 5 days before next test. I took a bunch of astragalus, made sure I was well hydrated and my next test it was 1.08 creatinine and an 85 gfr. Kidneys don’t repair themselves. I got a cystatin C test for first time also and I was in normal range. I’m back on the creatine.
you know my liver enzymes were high also a year ago. Had been elevated slightly for years. You know how I fixed it? I did a cut and got to below 10% bodyfat to get rid of visceral fat and fatty liver. It may have had something to do with my kidney values being better also. Just sounds very similar to what I was dealing with. I took a bunch of supplements for that as well. My liver enzymes are now in the 30s. My cholesterol is better now too. Citrus Bergamot(Bergamonte) and Berberine helped a lot.
My eGFR with creatinine is 60, when I use Cystatin C my eGFR is 103. Normal to almost stage 3a. Big difference. If creatinine eGFR is low, always check Cystatin C. If it comes in with a low eGFR, you're in trouble, if not and you carry alot of lean mass, suppl with creatine and consume alot of red meat you're likely OK but that's for the doc to decide.

. . . . If creatinine eGFR is low, always check Cystatin C . . . .
Worth repeating ... it is usually not included in the blood tests we or a PCP doctor might order.

You are getting creatine by simply eating meat. I am not a doctor but I can't think of any medical reason that would prevent someone from being able to have creatine unless you are a subhuman vegan.
You can but it would take a lot of beef to get the optimal dose of creatine.

Meat has about 1 gram of creatine for every 1 to 2 pounds of meat depending on the meat. I take 5 grams of creatine to feel the benefits. I might eat at the most 2 lbs of meat a day.

I agree 100% on the subhuman vegan comment. If we were not supposed to eat animals then why are they so tasty?

Were you on life support for kidney failure?

There is already a lot of good advice given out, supplementing with berberine, NAC, etc..., but this is with the understanding that you are like most of us. Doctors say we have kidney issues, because our eGFR sucks when in reality there is nothing wrong. The nephrologist generally rolls their eyes when they get a referral for someone with an eGFR stating they are stage 3 then find out they are a bodybuilder. However, your comment leads me to believe you have seen all the specialists and you are actually in the stages of kidney failure.
