That is a very good point, but looking at "labor" there is all the insurance coverages, pensions, liabilities, just to name a few, that go. Just looking at it from a different angle.

I'd like to get some citations to this report. 80% increase in pay?

www.huffingtonpost. com

or you can google hostess management recieves 80% increase in pay, will bringvup a bunch of different links.

Huffington post has since made a correction to the story since they posted it, saying the CEO did not or will not get a 300% increase in salary.

Bam let me say first that I dont want to argue with anyone from the group I have the most in common and nothing but respect for.

That said Im not for Unions in their present state. I was a fomer union member when I was younger Roofers Local 143, I own 2 buisnesses now. Ive have experience with both and see it a little different thats all. The issues of safety and wages you speak of, Im there with you believe me. But there are unions that are exploiting the comanies. Often times causing some of the bad buisness decisions that you speak of. Like retirement pay for people that are not employed there anymore. NO public or private company can sustain that kind of overhead Bam. They only way we can do it for military, fire and police is through tax raises.

Put your guns down brother and just listen a little, thats all Im trying to say.

I gotta say.. bam... guys like you are what give unions a bad name...

I worked in the past at a union company... nd my position would not allow me to join a union... and I didnt not want to...

and the guys there were jusat like you bam...

"Mangement makes all the money" "we do all the work" "This place insnt safe" "Its not fair... wah wah wah...fucking WAH!"

well... let me tell you... YOU ARE WRONG... Safety is always a concern, but most of the dumbass know it alls like yourself use "UNSAFE" techniques to cut corners and get done quickly so you can sit back down on your lazy ass and watch TV or surf the web while getting paid MORE than most of the "management"

I got sick to my stomach hearing whiney little fucks like yourself whine about how unfair it was and how much I made compared to cry babies like you... when the fact of the matter is you little prick made MORE and did less!

Its ridiculous that you complain about your job and "Hate" the company you work for and think it isnt fair... I would walk through the factory and see pukes just like you SITTING ON THEIR ASSES collecting a check...or watching 'Days of out lives' (YES!) or playing cards, or reading ESPN or looking at PORN... AND THEN have the audacity to say it was UNFAIR! and THESE guys were making 75-100k... fucking assholes!

The LOWEST paid guy on the floor made over $25 per hour.

Don't get me started on benefits... I cant speak for your company, but, the one I left... Non-Union employees were the only one that actually paid part of the premium... and EVEN THAT was unfair to them because they had a fucking Co-Pay...

and yes... I left that company because I saw the writing on the wall... the UNIONS were driving them out of business!!!

I say FUCK unions.. .and FUCK LABOR DAY!!

A MAN and his work are only as good as he is standing there... If it he is worth a shit a MAN doesn't need a union to keep his job.. he can do it on his own!!!

You're painting all unions with the same brush and IMO that isn't fair.

Just like those that say all unions are great are talking out of their ass.

P.S. 69... put your name on that list too...$92 per hour.. .and I am sure you get overtime and Holiday pay at double time and a half as well... which will push it much past that... stop fucking crying unfair... if you don't like it... LEAVE...

truth is... you DO like it...and you think its funny you get paid so much for doing so little...

Just a thought. Union yes, and if it pisses anyone off in this board I really don't give a fuck. Kick me off then and I will find a board with decent us labor values. By the way hostess is not closing.

Nobody gets screwed around here for voicing their opinion. PERIOD. That's not how this place works. You are entitled to give your two cents in a respectful, intelligent way. That's how we roll.

Like I said before, labor can be the answer, and not the problem. But it takes making new choices. The Teamsters were trying to convince the Bakers to take the labor concessions, and they didn't. So labor was not united in this case, because one of the unions appreciated that Hostess is genuinely in trouble, and is not bluffing. The Bakers said F U, and Hostess said OK.

Hostess won't continue going forward as the same business with the same structure. If they survive they will look quite different.

I had a buddy that worked for EDS doing computer work at the big GM plant in Lansing MI. He said he'd walk into a room and the lights were off, turn on the lights, and he'd see 6 guys there sleeping. These guys were union machininsts making BIG money, and regularly sleeping on the job. He would never say anything because andother EDS guy had reported something earlier, and his car was later severely vandalized and he was physically threatened. EDS transferred him to another site.

That's the kind of behavior the unions can fix. If they start to do that, unions can be part of the solution. But it's gonna take union bosses making some tough choices and getting pushback.
