Yes! A football thread!
I'm stoked this year for my Bucs. The Bucs offense is loaded. 3 solid RBs. 4 TEs. A whole room of WRs. Future hall of famer Mike Evans looks good as ever. This year he will break Jerry Rice's 1000 yard consecutive seasons record. Finally, a balanced offense with running, passing, pass protection and run blocking. They have depth too. The Bucs let Kyle Trask go and brought in Teddy Bridgewater. In case Baker goes down the Bucs can roll a proven winner into the position. Top 5 offense. Maybe top 3.
Defense is solid when all the starters are in. Defensive line is solid, hard to run against. Not the best at putting pressure on the QB though. They need to shave a second off of the QB's thinking time. Secondary was a little weak last year, mainly due to injuries. They really put the effort into fixing that. Their secondary will be much better this year. Line backing is bare bones. Lavonte is still good, but he's like 35 now? Yaya Diaby is poised to have a good year. But they have no depth at linebacker. If one of their starting linebackers goes down, that unit will suffer.
Week 3 or 4 the Bucs get Tristan Wirfs back, left tackle. And then Chris Godwin, WR. Their offense will be very high scoring this year.
Weaknesses: Long shots against them are tricky. Running through the middle is futile. Vita Vea cannot be run through. Period However, the Bucs can be picked apart by a good QB hitting right in the middle of the field. . And scrambling QBs fast on the outside. Grrrr... Washington.
The Bucs have had a revolving door bringing in OCs who then make a name for themselves and then land a head coaching job. The moved up Grizzard to OC. He has never called a play in a real game. His first press conference he looked like a deer in the headlights. But Baker vouched for him. Baker loves the guy.
I am assuming here that the Bucs have no linebackers go down. And that their secondary is a little improved this year. If those things hold true they can have an 11 win season.
