Wife says let's pull the trigger and really get the home gym up and running soon.

Lots of work to do but the power rack, I feel is the most vital component.

Thinking something like these for examples for the reputable brand (elitefts)

http://www.elitefts.com/shop/streng...tm-scholastic-3x3-full-power-rack-pack-1.html

http://www.elitefts.com/shop/streng...holastic-power-rack-3x3-double-half-rack.html

Then there are these:

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00S4LL6U0/?tag=garagegympro-20

http://www.amazon.com/Powertec-Fitness-P-PR-Power-Rack/dp/B000BJIU98?tag=bodygearguide-20

I took a look at the rogue models and frankly, I think the cost is too much for what I need out of them.

Figuring 700lb capacity but most of these are up to 1000lbs (with what's on the tree and the bar).

Would appreciate your thoughts on the above or if there is something better, I'm all ears.

I've been happy with every thing I've bought from elite, good quality. Then again, I bought a rack from Midwest barbell 10 yrs ago and still going strong, half the price. If I had the cash I'd go with elite though just because it's bullet proof

Agree with BI ... 1 if you have the money, 4 if you want to budget purchase this and save the money for a quality barbell or deadlift platform.

Dude, wait a month and check CL unless you are dead set on getting a brand new one. I have been trolling CL for a while for random items for a home gym and these come up every now and then at a great price.

You can borrow my Smith machine in the mean time, just get RR to remove her fanny pack hanging from it.

Haha, good point.

I've been trolling CL from NH down to Connecticut every 2-3 days for about 3 months and I have been able to grab some things here and there but not a ton of luck on racks. Def some good deals but finding a quality rack is a tall order from what I've seen anyhow. Not dead set on getting a new one but it's a 20-30 year investment for the whole family also so that's the line of thinking at the moment. We'll be benching out of the rack too so I'm ok with putting 13-1500 into one.

Now the treadmill thing, I took her off the idea of a new one...

Can't really go wrong with Elitefts at all.

Leaning that way

I think you're spot on. I'm going to be Building the DL platform around Feb-March and I have enough budgeted for bars. Looks like #1 is the best play at the moment.

Get a good rack with westside hole spacing through the bench area.

I have heard nothing but good things from this lately.

Interesting, I just took a look at that and the price point is certainly attractive (maybe I can grab a Safety squat bar or a buffalo bar with the extra budget now) along with the benefits/components. Thanks brother, I'm adding this to my radar now.

yeah, I definitely will be using said rack for benching also. Agreed.
