What do I need to do to clear out info that may be stored on here prior to returning it. We get new laptops every 3 years and mine is due up and I don't recall what I did last time.
Clear any web pages, saved passwords, visited pages in drop downs and such.

Thanks

You might be safest formatting and reinstalling the recovery.

if u use ccleaner then make sure u click all the stuff on the right hand menu and it will clean it out and if u do system restore to original they wont try to recover it just say u thinki it had a virus.most times they dont even mess with computers they just wipe them and reformat to resell them.

Safest bet is to do a system recovery and set back to factory defaults bro. Will get rid of everything ;)

I would never use a recovery disk. "Trash in trash out". Hopfully you have the full version of your operating system. Make sure you download the newest drivers, and anything else you deem important. Then format the disk. Reinstall your operating system, then update your system, antivirus program and anything else you east to keep. Then you're good to go.

Ok, I cannot format this laptop, and reinstall. That being said, what should the approach be.

Okay, you're giving this back to work. Not the FBI. Delete all cache, temp files, browsing history, and personal files. Delete all system restore points.

There are programs on cnet that can help you out.

Use CCleaner, Before pressing clean go into the options, settings. then secure deletion and set it to 35 passes. (this will make it take time but it makes the deletion much safer.

I would then delete all restore points except the latest one
