You know, lat activation is something a lot of us have to learn or, like myself, be more consistent. If it's convenient for you, please include some cues or directions that Matt gives that you find helpful as you progress here.

What are you squeezing on the partial sumos?

He says I'm not activating my lats in the pull and the press so I come up slightly then I'm supposed to kinda shrug it. Squeezing my upper back together.

Lat Activation Work

Circuit: Dumbell Bench Press focusing on the lats 30lbs x 25; Fat Bar Pulldowns 70lbs x 25; Vbar Tricep Pressdown 25lbs x 25 ( 4 rounds of this with 30 seconds between rounds)

Barbell Press with Chains (80lbs in chains)

1 chain each side x 3

2 chains each side x 3

175 x 3

215 x 3

245 x 3

275 x 3

300 x 3


Accessory work

Fat Grip Pull Down

140 x 10 wide grip

140 x 10 medium grip

140 x 10 narrow grip

140 x 10 neutral grip (Bar is made for this)


Vbar Tricep Pressdown

70 x 10

70 x 10

70 x 10

70 x 10


Dumbell Hammer Curls...3 second cadence on raise hold for 3 seconds at top

20 x 10

20 x 10

20 x 10


Orange Band Wrist Flex (To build forearm strength so wrists don't roll back on press.)

x 20 for 4 sets

supersetted with loaded bar for forearm curls x 30 x 30 reps.

All in about an hour and ten

4-5 minutes rest on major compound work. 1 minute on prep and accessory work.

Building forearm strength... Definitely something I need to do. Great work brother. Just wait til that bench is up around 500 here in a little while.
