Dr Jim is Right on- I am like a. Walking catalog of injuries lol. Decades of contact sports, weights. , combat I can tell ya. One point I want to ad- never and I mean never accept first opinion . Especially with neck . I have same but I tried the med path and DJ is correct in implying that can make it far worse. I tell everyone that exercise can heal - the right way . My main 2 cents - if you have been lifting weights and active all your life - you need a surgeon and or doc that specialized and works with athletes - it could mean a totally different life post surgery - I did back no rods but they used extra caging , my tendons were anchored with heavy rope and extra screws bracts my muscles were thicker and stronger than most people. If you are mostly Athletic mainstream surgeon will not understand how to reinforce your body during operating . I found the docs that actually work on my city's professional teams . Like if you live in Chicago find who treats the bears and the black hawks . Usually if you have insurance you can choose . Do not allow a doc who don't get sports to refer to a specialist - this is your neck !!

Ketsugo I'm with you on that brother. Lower back problems, screwed up my neck 10 years ago, that really messed with my game. Still have numbness in my right thumb and fore finger, and lost a lot of strength in my right arm. Brachialis has taken over to compensate for weakness in my right biceps. Avulsion fracture in my right elbow from doing heavy triceps extensions, had that for 6 years. All of these were preventable with better technique, and some common sense.
I have learned to live with it all though.

I saw the neuro on schedule, I was scheduled to be cut a week later, the 19th. I started back at the gym 2 weeks ago with 100% recovery! My strength isn't back, but mobility is and no more tingles in the hands. This lady was awesome. I walked out to my car the next day and had steak for dinner. I know some people that had surgery a year ago and are still wearing a brace!

If you're feeling numbness or even paralyzation in your tricep, then it may be nerve impingement of the radial nerve. In clients with dysfunction in rotatorcuff, the surrounding muscles will be up-regulated. The radial nerve may be entrapped between the teres major and long head of triceps. It's rare, but it can happen.

If the root of all your pain is in your cervical spine, then best of luck to you in the operation mate.
Usually the degeneration may occur from postural dysfunctions such as forward head posture, you may want to look into that. GL once again!
