Rooting Android

Does anybody know how to root the HTC EVO 4G with android 2.3.3? I've been trying for two full days know and have used dozens of programs and walk-throughs but nothing works. I used to think I knew a thing or two about electronics, but I guess that's the first thing to go when you get old.

Just put clockwork mod on it and install a custom rom.

Sense (HTC rom ) is pretty but bloated as hell. Your phone will be way more snappy with something else. Xda is your friend.

I don't think I have to open it up... I wouldn't have gone that far if that's what it took.

I've tried several different methods and the truth is, I have no idea what I'm doing. I got the phone rooted finally (it says S-off at least) but I have no idea how to flash the rom. The guide doesn't seem to make sense because everything is written in nerd-kilingon.

I used clockwork mod, but don't know how to install a rom. I got the superuser app and the phone reverted to some old version of droid and now I can't get cool apps like Netflix.
