I am curious about the heart on reta. It spikes my heart rate and it is a side effect some get
That was a dose related effect in the NEJM P2 trials, a function of the glucagon receptor activity. Clinically not sure what that translates into. We know that reducing HR in heart transplant recipients is beneficial but relative to increases from RETA, it would only be speculation.

The beehiiv article talks about how the glucagon component increases hepatic release of cAMP and effects on renal function. My guess is that might explain why HR and perhaps contractility increases with RETA. cAMP effect on the heart as well, either localized production via glucagon receptors or circulating.

While I really like the kidney benefits in that article, the heart rate thing makes me second guess it. Low dose Nebivolol and Ivabradine keeps it in check for now. I’m also switching my hgh to eod to see if that helps as well.

I have been using reta for over a year now and noticed my Cystatin C improved, so improved renal function appears to be real. At least for me.

The increase in HR is real as well (around 5-6 BPM at all doses), but noticed a few things. While the resting HR increases, it appears getting the HR to increase during cardio is more difficult. The only way I can get my HR to 120 on steady state cardio anymore is taking the stairmaster to 10. Treadmill, not even close. Even at a jog, it will only get up to 117 then it starts dropping to around 110. I am full blown growth season. In fact, just finished my second push. Even with tren and Alpha 1 Superhuman Extreme in the mix, the HR still wouldn't get in the 120-140 range for steady state without the stairmaster.

Are you on any beta blockers? Do you think the slupp could be keeping your heart rate down? Or you sure it's the reta?

I'm on reta and my heartrate seems about the same.

I don't use any beta blockers. I was a high endurance guy most of my life being Marine Infantry for 22 years, so my resting HR is already low to the point I have to do burpees before an echo for it to work. It just goes up a bit on the reta. Still well below where most people are at.

It could be the SLU keeping it down, since I have basically used them in conjunction and even when I cycle off the SLU, I cycle on MOTS-c or SS-31.
