Olympic bar quality

A few days ago I was doing some heavy deadlifts (500lb.+) in a power rack from just below the knee at the local gym. My grip gave out as I reached lockout and the weight landed on the safety pins. As I was taking off the weight, I noticed that the bar had been significantly bent, essentially transforming a straight bar into a buffalo. My question is, would this still occur with a high quality bar? I ask this because I am going to purchase some quality equipment soon, and dread destroying a $500+ bar in a power rack.

They are rated for how much they can hold... That was a cheap bar likely.

In my gym I have 2 CAP powerlifting bars.
the solid black one is rated at 2000# test and the chrome/black one is rated at 1500# test.

I think the Texas bar is rated at 1500 hundred pounds.

Texas Power Bars are rated at 1500lbs. You get what you pay for so don't skimp on a bar.

And to answer the OP's question. That bar was a piece of shit. If it bent that easily, it wasn't worth the lint in my pocket.
