TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Agents with the West Alabama Narcotics Task Force arrested a 21 year old Tuscaloosa man in the area of Hwy 82 East and Monticello Drive on Sunday September 12th at 11:00 pm.
Samuel Christopher Poppell was arrested after agents conducted a traffic stop on his vehicle in the area of Hwy 82 E and Monticello Drive. Agents found approximately 6 ½ pounds of high grade Marijuana, Cocaine, and $6,000.00 cash in the vehicle.
A search warrant was obtained and Poppell’s residence in the 2700 Block of Sumner Place was searched at 1:00 am Monday morning. Agents found 2 ½ pounds of Marijuana, 30-40 vials of steroids, 1,000 unknown pills (agents are still trying to identify), 2 small bags of cocaine, multiple firearms including assault rifles, handguns, and shotguns.
Poppell was arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance (cocaine), and 2 counts of Trafficking in Marijuana. He was placed in the Tuscaloosa County Jail Pending a $515,000.00 bond. Agents are submitting this case for Federal ICE Prosecution.
