TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Agents with the West Alabama Narcotics Task Force arrested a 21 year old Tuscaloosa man in the area of Hwy 82 East and Monticello Drive on Sunday September 12th at 11:00 pm.

Samuel Christopher Poppell was arrested after agents conducted a traffic stop on his vehicle in the area of Hwy 82 E and Monticello Drive. Agents found approximately 6 ½ pounds of high grade Marijuana, Cocaine, and $6,000.00 cash in the vehicle.

A search warrant was obtained and Poppell’s residence in the 2700 Block of Sumner Place was searched at 1:00 am Monday morning. Agents found 2 ½ pounds of Marijuana, 30-40 vials of steroids, 1,000 unknown pills (agents are still trying to identify),2 small bags of cocaine, multiple firearms including assault rifles, handguns, and shotguns.

Poppell was arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance (cocaine),and 2 counts of Trafficking in Marijuana. He was placed in the Tuscaloosa County Jail Pending a $515,000.00 bond. Agents are submitting this case for Federal ICE Prosecution.
