CAPITOLA — A Capitola man was arrested Thursday after an investigation by local, state and federal agencies found he was allegedly selling steroids and prescription drugs out of his home.

According to the Santa Cruz County Anti-Crime Team (CCACT), agents conducted a “controlled delivery” of a package to Keith Atwood, 54, at his residence on the 900 block of Capitola Avenue.

The arrest was the result of a months-long investigation by the SCCACT, along with the Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency.

Police say the package contained more than 2,500 suspected steroid pills.

A subsequent search turned up an additional 1383 steroid pills, along with a laundry list of liquid steroids including Stanozolol, Clomed, Provironum, Oxymetholone, Mesterolone, Testostrone Cypionate, Synovex H, Nandrolone Decanote, and Danabol.

Investigators also found counterfeit Viagra and Cialis, as well as a loaded handgun.

A follow-up investigation led investigators to seize $82,000 US that is believed to be proceeds of steroid sales.

Atwood was released from Santa Cruz County Jail on $25,000 bail, according to SCCACT Commander Mario Sulay.

No time soon? Look how long it's taken "normal" people to affect the public ( read "media" ) perception of weed. Today, aas is still a sexy headline for a news editor while rec's, driveby's and other collateral damage are so common they can't compete for ratings with a nice local story about a normal member of the community busted for personal use aas. I think/hope this will change too, but change comes slowly, and might be measured more in decades than years.

I blame that damn Jose Canseco book for some of the focus on us the last 10 yrs, and it was just spilled down from him outting his MLB "brothers."

His wife took all his money, then the ball bounces off his head in right field for a homerun...I guess he figured ''Ahh WTH..what else can happen'' !! POS ratting on all his buddies. Besides that Pro's are all grown men and should be able to use whatever helps them heal and perform at their peak..Jus my humble opinion
