CAPITOLA — A Capitola man was arrested Thursday after an investigation by local, state and federal agencies found he was allegedly selling steroids and prescription drugs out of his home.
According to the Santa Cruz County Anti-Crime Team (CCACT), agents conducted a “controlled delivery” of a package to Keith Atwood, 54, at his residence on the 900 block of Capitola Avenue.
The arrest was the result of a months-long investigation by the SCCACT, along with the Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency.
Police say the package contained more than 2,500 suspected steroid pills.
A subsequent search turned up an additional 1383 steroid pills, along with a laundry list of liquid steroids including Stanozolol, Clomed, Provironum, Oxymetholone, Mesterolone, Testostrone Cypionate, Synovex H, Nandrolone Decanote, and Danabol.
Investigators also found counterfeit Viagra and Cialis, as well as a loaded handgun.
A follow-up investigation led investigators to seize $82,000 US that is believed to be proceeds of steroid sales.
Atwood was released from Santa Cruz County Jail on $25,000 bail, according to SCCACT Commander Mario Sulay.
