I just ate some chicken that was cooked a week ago. I'm still alive.

I had food poisoning recently so i'm weird about "old" food. If it's something i cook, i'd give it....3-4 days. Take out, 2 days, max. Seafood/sushi 24 hrs.

I'm with you!

7 days is my cutoff. For chicken, steak, everything, even oatmeal... The smell will tell ya. If in doubt eat a HCL tablet LOL, the acid kills stuff...

36 hours is by the book. However with all the preservatives you can go longer.

My old roommate used to cook all his meals in one night on sunday nights to last him all the way to next sunday. Not breakfast, but lunch and dinner. He was a real strict dieter and weighed out each portion, all that.I never saw him get sick or complain about his food one time, and he had various things he would eat.

You would all have a rough time at my house. I make beans 4 gallons at a time, they last weeks. We make a turkey every week or two, so there is always turkey and beans in the fridge. We don't keep fish, but that is mostly cause storing it in the same fridge as the beans make them taste fishy. Never been sick from food.

Grew up eating game and ham that hung in barn (smoke house). It would mold on the outside, wash the mold off and eat it. Heavy on the salt and smoke, but that kept as long as we ever needed it to. No fridge at all, and talking months not days.

When you inviting me over Fish!

That's another thing my wife ditches, cheese with mold on it. WASH IT OFF you millionaire, LOL When I was a kid our relatives from Italy would send cheese over and hells yeah it was moldy, made it taste better. Salt and smoke cured meats as a kid were great, full of flavor, not like the processed crap today.
