Couldn't get the video to play for me..stating it was having problems! Nothing like Hannibal for King probably..one to watch and try.

It's actually all lats and momentum. Shoulders aren't really used at all.
It's not meant to build muscle. It's more of an endurance movement
as it takes a lot of air to string them together. Nobody in crossfit
considers it a real pull up. It's a butterfly kip and it's used
in a race, not for hypertrophy.

It does look kind of ridiculous but it gets the job done
in a timed competition.

I saw this video a while back....the commentary cracks me up. There's a dip video too with the same guy commenting....priceless stuff lol

that shit took way to long to start..almost couldn't wait that long but seen these many times...think I will stick to the regular pull-ups :)

Forgive me CTJ because I think your cool as hell but I disagree completely. It is all momentum using your rotator cuffs as a hinge. That's no more a lat workout than jogging is a quads workout.

Okay so it's for a race... To prove what? Certainly not to prove who can do the most pullups in the lest time, cause that aint no pullup.

think of it more as a lat pull over while peddaling backwards haha
Using too much shoulder will definitely kill your rotator, no doubt.
It's not a lat workout, more of an endurance/breathing thing. But your lats are the main component
that push you away from the bar and up and then the swing down.

it's not to prove anything, really. Just a skill from gymnastics that's repeated over
and over to kill your endurance and test your breathing.

Trust me, in competition, I would prefer it to be illegal.

Most guys don't give a shit about that though.
It's all about chest to bar pull ups or muscle ups.
