Hey guys, someone I know just started no IM test cyp at 200mg/wk, and he's having uncomfortable hot flashes. His labs are:

Testosterone...................................................1067ng/dL.............................348 - 1197

Free Testosterone.............................................24.4pg/mL.............................6.6 - 18.1

Estradiol..........................................................27.0 pg/mL...........................7.6 - 42.6

At first blush, these numbers look great, and estrogen does not seem to be too high. His thyroid levels are:

T3 UPTAKE ..................32.1 %...............20.0 - 38.5

T4 (THYRODINE).............8.0 UG/DL.........4.4 - 12.4

TSH............................2.0 UIU/ML.........0.5 - 4.7

Reverse T3...................296 pg/ml..........90 - 350

These all seem to be OK. Any ideas what the hot flashes may be and how to get rid of them?

Holy shit! that RT3 is high. you want that as low as possible. essentially your body is unable to use about 85+% of the T3 in your blood stream. It could be allergies making you sweat, i do. its spring time and im always battling a cold or something around here.

Crowman, thanks for the helpful feedback. I relayed the info to him, and here is his response.

"I have long suspected a thyroid problem as I age because of cold intolerance even here in the deep south, thinning hair on TRT etc.

Please ask your friend what he knows about getting reverse T3 down. What supplements or drugs do that. I have googled high T3 symptoms and am not making much sense of what they are saying as it looks to be an area in alternative medicine not the mainstream comfort zone medicine that most doctors subscribe to as non progressive but nevertheless "safe" as they say pointing to research.

I am not opposed to off label use of meds for a time period if they will help me, just to experiment."

Any thoughts on how to get reverse T3 down?
