Anyone have any knowledge or experience digging into fraud that's happened against you? My fiancée just had her accounts emptied last night for $11k total and two credit cards that got opened and maxed out. The bank and police have pretty much just said, "sorry, there's not much we can do and you might be liable"

I've had my debit cards which are linked to my bank account through SunTrust hit a few times for Fraud.. Never more than $1,000 but each time SunTrust did replace The Funds within 7 days

They tracked the money to an account that was shutdown and said there's not much they can do

Bank will protect ya
They don't want the bad press

Had mine cleaned out about 10yrs ago
And it was a lot
I was playing in the sand and had no clue

She's not liable for the credit cards. The only way the bank won't cover of its someone she knows who has had access in the past. If it's complete stranger I'd theft, the shes gtg it just might take awhile.

Some useful information here:

When it happened to me I did the following:

*Made police report
*Contacted bank to start investigation
*Reported it to the credit bureaus
*Kept all records
*Contacted my attorney

It took awhile but the bank eventually ruled in my favor and I got everything back.
