A federal grand jury today indicted a Morgantown, W.Va., gym owner and four others, including two Pennsylvania men, on charges of running a steroid distribution network.
Federal prosecutors in Wheeling said Carl Benedict, 49, owner of Club 24 Fitness, manufactured, processed and sold compounds of human growth hormone and anabolic steroids online using materials procured from China.
Also indicted were four men identified as his associates: Richard J. Pinelli, Jr., 27, of Mifflintown, Pa.; Joseph B. Greco, 27, of New Castle; and Derek S. Starn, 33, of Bridgeport, W.Va.; and Anthony F. DiDomenico, III, 28, of Morgantown.
