Three sources told Randy Rosetta of the New Orleans Times-Picayune that LSU junior left tackle Chris Faulk likely will miss the rest of the season with a major knee injury.

Faulk hurt the joint during practice on Wednesday, with coach Les Miles alluding to “a little bit of bad news” after the session. The 6-foot-6, 323-pound Faulk had started the last 15 games — all 14 in 2011 and the season opener last Saturday — at LT.

In his first 2013 mock draft back in May, SI.com’s Andrew Perloff projected Faulk to go off the board at No. 12 in the first round.

Rosetta writes that the Tigers have three options to replace Faulk: sixth-year senior Josh Dworaczyk, starting left guard La’el Collins and starting right tackle Alex Hurst. Inserting Dworaczyk, who started at LG in 2009 and ’10 before missing all of ’11 with an injury, would be the least disruptive, but he has never played OT. Collins, a five-star recruit in the class of 2011, could slide outside with Dworaczyk moving back into the LG spot. Or Hurst, in his third year as the starting RT, could flip to the left side with four-star freshman Vadal Alexander stepping into the lineup

Brett McMurphy of ESPN.com reports that the Big 12, ESPN and Fox on Friday will announce a media rights deal worth $2.6 billion over 13 years, or $200 million annually ($20 million for each of the league’s 10 teams).

The Big 12′s board of directors will formally vote on the proposal on Friday morning, and it’s expected to be approved with no resistance.

The new deal, which apparently goes into effect immediately (McMurphy says it runs through the 2024-25 school year), puts the league on par with the Big Ten in per-school TV revenue, just behind the Pac-12′s $21 million each. Guess losing Colorado, Nebraska, Missouri and Texas A&M didn’t matter much.

ESPN and Fox will divvy up the league’s football schedule, while ESPN will own the rights to all men’s basketball games.

The deal also includes a “grant of rights” which assigns a school’s media rights and revenue to the league should the school leave for another conference. The clause is designed to protect the Big 12 from defectors; the Big Ten and Pac-12 also have such language in their respective deals.
