Can't remember. Was it Richard who first came up with "Squatober," or did Bert develop that later? Either way, don't forget on "Deadcember," coming up soon enough.

( was definitely Richard who chose the Bosco mustache as a logo ;) )
Was going to do "All I Want For Christmas is a Big Bench" in December. I'm thinking of trying one of their workouts EO month.

Man inreally want to jump on this even tho my weight maxes are pennies.. like i mean pennies it may do me some good to grab this and run with it

this is all on their instagram right?
Bro I'm sure my lifts are pennies to a lot of these guys. Just do it! You need to know your max for Bench, Squat, and Deadlift. Jump in and enjoy. Today was a good one if you can still make it. I'll post it up when I get back from the driving range. Gotta get my golf game on too :)

So I have my journal updated on a sheet of paper and I'll get this up to date this week. My daughter has been in town so I have been super busy. For now let me just say my legs felt like they were ripping apart every squat last week. An Ice bath did wonders for them. Sometimes I push myself a little too hard and I forget... I'm a 53 year old man who only acts like he is 20 lol

Well I have been pretty shit at keeping this journal. The least I can do is give a decent review of the whole program. Going to the gym now for PR party day. When I get back I'll give you a pretty though review of Squatober 2025. And tell you how much my PR has gone up in a month. I can feel the strength gain so I'm excited to see where I am.

Squatober full Review

I was very intimidated when I set out on this. Squatober was recommended by my daughter and her fiance who are both power lifters and ex college athletes. My daughter also was a head college coach in her sport and her fiance was the head strength coach for all sports at their college. This guy is crazy strong and in his peak performance age. Me, I’m only 1 year back into lifting coming off being a fat blob. Oh and I’m 53 years accent On top of that there is my shitty joints from lifting heavy for about 25 years prior to my fatness.

Now that you see my mindset going into this, athletically I feel good but no where where I should be yet. I have been on terzep the past year and have lost a ton of fat. I have also been on TRT the past couple months so strength is getting….better. Still not anything to get too excited about but in the process. My squat max prior to Squatober is 305. Being this is a strength program mainly focused on squats that’s how we will gaugee my over all success. My work out prior to has been the standard push pull. Working 4 days a week. Every muscle gets 1 work out a week. Cardio right after my work out. In the gym about 90 to 120 minutes. Also I’m hating leg days I workout at a fast pace with short rest time. Typically 4 sets of 10 reps. Few if any supersets.

It’s important to note I tried to keep to the program 100%. Any deviation I will note but for the most part I was true to their instruction.

I took cardio out of the gym and I walk later at night with my dogs.

1st deviation: At the end of every workout I added abs. 2-3 exercises. Seeing my abs again is goal so I can’t stop working them. I try to get full rest. Their meal suggestions obviously I don’t adhere to. I do however try to up my calorie intake. Even on the GLP-1 my apatite increases due to the more intense workouts. I’m a big believer in your body telling you when it needs more food and boy was it telling me that.

Intensity: Average

Fatigue: None

My first week of Squatober was uneventful. Nothing was too hard or too stressful. I didn’t really feel much difference from my regular routine. The work out was completely different, and I could tell the difference from the start. However, it was not hard, and I felt no additional soreness or strain.

Week 2

Intensity: Holly fuck!

Fatigue: OUCH!!!!!!

Tuesday is hell on earth. The pressure cooker is the worst idea ever. I pushed myself and was able to get 9 reps in 10 minutes. From that day on my legs screamed at me every time I bent them. I felt like I completely tore my quads. Even light weights hurt. At this point I started icing my legs down every night. Over the weekend I even took a lower body ice bath.

Zercher squats were a relief because they were light and easier. HOWEVER, slow Bulgarian split squats are literally hell when your legs already feel like you tore them in half.

Week 3

Intensity: High Still

Fatigue: Legs are sore but a bit better

After the Ice bath over the weekend and 2 days rest my legs could finally bend again. I still had a little soreness BUT they didn’t feel like they were ripping in half. Super sets really start kicking in this week. I am drenched in sweat after some of these days of high supersets. I was really moving along great. Then they hit me with…PRESSURE COOKER #2 on Wednesday. I’m not one to go easy no matter the consequences so I go into the 2nd pressure cooker just as hard. Got 10 reps this time, even though it was heavier. Legs were dead Wednesday. BUT my legs are now adapting. They hurt but nothing like the first week. Feeling great going into week 3.

Week 4

Intensity: High Still

Fatigue: Feel great. Normal amount of soreness.

This week feels great. My whole body feels stronger. My legs feel great finally. I think what I really love about week 4 is they have incorporated a couple really great chest work outs. Supersets continue to give me a great sweat. The “cardio” lifts are intense on many of the days. This is the week I really started feeling myself again. Overall looking and feeling great.
