I have to disagree with you here, but I do appreciate your point of view. The US gave Ukraine equipment, but Ukraine is/was limited in its expertise in using the equipment they received. And the best equipment was NOT provided to Ukraine, for good reasons. We didn't want Russia getting their hands on any of it. Russia hasn't defeated anyone. It's fought Ukraine to a standstill. Absolutely nothing to be proud of. Russia succeeded in showing the entire world what is can't do.

A conventional conflict with Russia and the west would include high tech air power, and Russia's air defenses are no better than Iran's. Israel had no problem taking those out without any casualties. Russia would be in deep shit, and would have to resort to nuclear retaliation, which is nothing to scoff at, but they have not shown themselves an effective conventional fighting force.

And there is an argument to be made that Russia's complete faceplant in Ukraine is a big reason China did not go after Taiwan when they had the chance under feckless Biden. Once China saw how poor Russia's execution was, CCP leadership began to doubt their military capabilities. After all, everyone up and down the line of military leadership in Russia and China lies. Therefore, just what are China's capabilities? I don't think they wanted to find out the hard way with Taiwan. Taiwan has better equipment than what Ukraine got, and they are fully trained on what they have. Like Ukraine, they'd be fighting for their own homes, and thus would be a tough fight.

And keep in mind, the best systems that the US have given Ukraine require specific data; satellite intel, programming etc hands on in order to designate and fire on “enemy” targets. Ukraine are ducks in a kiddy pool without hands on US / Western coordinating and programming.

Musk's DOGE has read access to executive branch systems and is IDing waste and fraud. Then providing the data and recommendations to the agency heads. If Trump's political opposition wants to run in 2026 for gov't waste, I say go for it. I'm not sure I'd recommend it, but who knows, maybe the grifters are playing chess while I'm looking at a checkerboard.

I hear AOC and other dems screaming that Trump is going to cut SS and Medicare. I haven't heard a single person say that. I have heard Trump say that he's going to find fraud and waste in SS and Medicare and cut that. Doing that won't affect the benefits going out to any legit recipient. These shrill nonsense accusations don't stick anymore because no one listens to CNN, NYT and WaPo anymore. They've lied so much and so often, that the public just ignores them. You can go to DOGE.gov and see transparently all the nonsense that's getting identified.

Just what Trump campaigned on. The voters who put him on office are NOT unhappy. Those in the on scam certainly are.

Yet recently, Musk referred to SS as “The biggest Ponzi scheme of all time.” So you can guess what his recommendation is for it.
Not a reassurance for SS recipients by any stretch of the imagination. Should they be stress / worry free and by just blind faith “trust the process.”?

SAD, The way you’d like this place to be free of all of what politics is about, is the same way many if not most all of us would like to see the end of politicians and gov’t in our lives.
