pretty sure his test levels at that age need a boost and the 100mg per week recommendation sounds spot on. So what if it increases cancer, low test levels themselves can cause a vast array of health problems!

I would put him on peptides as GH is expensive as fuck with the test and watch him live a much happier/fuller life!

"So what if it increases cancer"??? Think about that statement.

Listen, I'm over 60, too, and tests indicate I have low T. I've done my homework, visited two specialists, and am keenly aware of the pros & cons of hormone replacement therapy. The research on prostate cancer is not definitive, but some has shown that if the disease is present, its progress can be accelerated by upping testosterone. There are also other potential problems associated with the therapy.

I hope TRT is right for this guy...and for me. Shit, I'm a top 20 masters powerlifter (according to PL Watch rankings). If higher T will drive my total up a mere 85 lbs, I'll set an all-time record in my age division. I want that BAD, but not bad enough to put my health at risk. Before I cross over, I'm going to make damned sure it's the right decision. It's the smart thing to do.

^^^ That's a nice trt dosage! And the prostate can be taken care of with proscar or even saw palmetto.

Okay, I'll give it one more shot, then leave it alone:

* I didn't say all cancer can be prevented or testosterone causes cancer, because neither is true. However, prostate cancer is THE most common cancer in older men (except for nonmalenoma skin cancer). It is often slow growing and undetected in its early stages. If (again IF) the cancer is already present, the additional testosterone has been known to accelerate it.

* Sometimes low T is caused by something else being out of whack in the HPT axis. In many cases, the thyroid is the culprit. For those of us who use caffeine and supplements to help us kick ass in the gym and on the podium, it could be the adrenals. In these cases, it's safer to correct the imbalance. (By the way, low thyroid is far more serious than low test.)

* You young guys can cycle off gear and get your balls to bounce back with the right PCT. For us older guys, there's no real bounce back, because we have low T to begin with. In fact, it takes us longer to get to where they were before. So the choice is to stay on and worry about things like liver damage (if the dose is too high) or deal with a crash (depression, loss of libido, etc).

Shine - I'm glad your dad is doing well and would be interested in learning more (how he determined what his dosage should be, how long he's been on, whether he cycles off, any physique/strength transformations, how often he has his PSA and liver enzymes tested) if you'd be willing to share.

Personally, I would first confirm just how low the T levels are with his physician. Getting a complete blood workup is a starting point. From there. I am not against self medicating. But, if he obtains a script for TRT..then even better. Some people have issues doing things that are deemed illegal. A script in hand will make it easier for all concerned.

His Doctor may prescribe a low dose Test Cyp or even Gel.

It all begins with determining how healthy he is and how low the T is.

UncleAl...congrats and keep up the hard work. I'm a PLer as well. ALthough admittedly been quite a few years since my last comp. I do plan on competing again in the future. I am now 54 and have been tested for low T levels too.

I was 42 when I was diagnosed with low t. Being on T has made quality of life a hell of a lot better. Lots of ailments I didn't even know was low t related went away a few months into trt. I had these red spots on my ballsack that old men get. That completely went away on trt plus other things. Thank god for trt.

That is great to read. I take 500mg. ew and keep my fingers crossed where estrogen is concerned.
When I do sense an estrogen explosion, I take several AI's to combat it.

I'm going to the medical center this month and next month to check for cancer of my digestive tract, prostate gland, and scrotum. Why? I went to the gym a little earlier than usual and saw a guy named "Walt". A big 70 year old guy. I approached him and exchanged greetings. I asked him about his training partner who was also a huge 70 year old bodybuilder. I used to stand next to these two guys and felt small and skinny as hell!!! He told me James had died of stage 4 cancer of the prostate. Sad thing, he didn't even know he had it until it was too late.
A twice a year checkup is necessary for anyone that uses steroids no matter their age. BTW, Walt had his prostate gland removed. I asked him about having sex. He said, "I use the PUMP!" LOL

He should do it. His chances of getting prostate cancer or heart disease are going to lessen with TRT. It's proven over and over again. TRT doesn't cause cancer. Too high levels of DHT or estrogen, can cause cancer on the other side.
