EDMONTON - Two men have been charged in a bust that saw more than $750,000 in drugs seized from a home in a new luxury development in Fort McMurray. The bust included large amounts of steroids, prescription pills and gamma-Hydroxybutyric acid (GHB), better known as the ‘date-rape drug.’
Richard Cosman, 31, and Jeromy Laporte, 30, are charged with eight counts each of possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking, and one count each of possession of proceeds of crime over $5,000.
RCMP say the Wood Buffalo detachment’s Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit executed a search warrant on Dec. 12 on a home on Killdeer Way, an area filled with large homes, many of which are for sale for $1-million or more.
During the search, police found more than three kilograms of cocaine worth more than $300,000; 993 grams of ecstasy worth nearly $200,000; three litres of GHB; 400 grams each of marijuana and hashish; more than 1,000 prescription pills; and anabolic steroids in a number of forms, including 800 bottles of injectable steroid and human growth hormone.
Officers also found more than $46,000 in cash and drug trafficking paraphernalia. A vehicle was also seized.
