It is not often that I am posting PR's these days. I am guilty of biting off more then I can chew a lot of times. I never have broken my old PR of 620 on deads because I went for 15-20lb jumps.

After taking a break for a while, I started working deads again last week after a 3-4 month break. I only went up to 405 (on deficits) last week. This week, things just felt good. So I kept going up to see where I was. I decided to nibble a new pr and added 5lbs for a 625 pull. Nothing spectacular....but a new PR none the less. At some point I will start working these again and see what I can do.

Just keeping it real....still hitting day in and day out.

Current BW 205lbs.

Ha! Yep...versa gripps. When I am just general training I use straps because I have tendentious issues in my arm. It is also not worth the risk of bicep strain to me.

I have no problem with mixed grip and my grip strength is not even close to being a limitation.

When I am prepping for a comp, I will use mixed on my singles, but even triples and up, I still train with straps. Being over 40, I dont heal up like I did in my 20's so pushing up on connective tissue strains are something I try to minimize in my everyday training.

Thanks guys. These days, I am trying to find that balance of strength and looking/feeling good. It is not in my nature to do anything less then 100% when it comes to pushing myself, but I also am realizing that it is not worth it for me to walk around nursing some kind of injury all the time. I do notice that being over 40, I dont bounce back like I did in my 20's. Injuries last months and months....not just a few weeks.

My hip is feeling the best it has in over a year (another injury ;) ). I think on tues I am going to see where my squat is at. I know it north of 500....just not sure how far. Two weeks ago, I did a nice 475x4. I am still stuck squatting close stance, but that is just what I have to do with my hip. It may not make for the strongest lift, but I have gotten to where I can now move decent weight that way and not be left limping then next day.

Hopefully on tues, I can post a new squat PR.
