Hi people

Just a quick introduction to be polite...

Thanks for accepting me. I'm a 45 year old recreational lifter. Into the history of the sport & also follow current pro B/Bing.

I'm a small, slightly built guy. Cos of age, work & study commitments I find I need a LOT of recovery time atm. Currently only training twice a week, typically full-body, use nearly exclusively compound Exs. Two herniated discs mean I can only squat effectively with low weight so have to get creative with pre-ex, short rest etc... My shoulders don't like b/bell Benches, so bench occasionally but mainly Inc D/Bell press for chest.MP for shoulders, laterals if energy low. Deads... now I love deadlifts to the point where I overwork the ex if not careful.
But my back (mostly) lets me deadlift heavy still; in fact it's helped my back pain but I have to be careful - usually working sets are 6 reps, maybe as low as 4 occasionally...

Basic philosophy - Full body or at least 2 bodyparts per W/O. 2 intense work sets, maybe with one drop / burnout. Working sets: Deads 5/6 reps Squats 15 - 25 reps Everything else 6 - 15 reps. Like DogCrapp / Rest Pause philosophy. Keeps me safe deadlifting & lets me fail 2/3 times working other parts. I do believe in working arms, but more minimally eg if I've worked chest & shoulders hard with presses then may just do 1 long set rope extensions with 2 drops - 1 heavy, 1 moderate with a squeeze, then higher rep burnout.

I'm not enhanced though wouldn't rule it out. I just won't do it until I've committed 100% & plateaued & also ready to give up alcohol, partying etc as pointless otherwise. Supps - Whey, Creatine, Fish Oils, Magnesium, Zinc...

I have issue with the 'hardgainer' tag - in a way I'm an 'easygainer'. Natural weight 112 - 120 lbs. Training hard I get up up to 160 lbs, 155 with abs (just!)
Believe some advantage in being a hardgainer as weight gain should be mostly muscle

I work with people who have substance misuse issues. We have a needle exchange so I learn a lot about gear from the local lads who use it; used to get a lot from M/D Mag but it's much less hardcore now & anabolic info much reduced.... So I will have loads of questions on gear if people don't mind answering. It informs my work as all other 'substance use' is well researched whilst anabolic knowledge is still largely underground; it doesn't tick any funding boxes either, as most anabolic users working, healthy etc... They don't want or need 'curing' lol...

I love discussing anything training related & will talk about it all day long. Personally still looking to increase strength where possible, hypertrophy main goal but I believe the two are complementary. If my back wasn't blown I'd cycle in some PL training occasionally...

Anyway that is me in a nutshell...

Looking forward to the debates!

Nice one people

Got a bit distracted by the porn section when checking out the site lol :)

Could someone point me towards the best place to start a thread on deadlifting? Have both powerlifting & B/Bing interest, but prob more B/Bing as I can't afford to ding my back any more...
