It was code named Cajun Rage in part because of the agitation steroid user's experience.
This morning nine men went before Federal Judge Patricia Minaldi to be sentenced for their roles in an illegal steroid distribution ring.
All but one of those sentenced this morning received jail time, and those with the ability to pay were fined in amounts ranging from two to five thousand dollars.
Bryce Meaux is sentenced to two years in prison with a $3,000 fine.
Christopher Gass will do one and a half years and a $2,000 fine.
Blake Meche will spend a year in prison.
Five others will serve six months: Terry Kuykendall, Cainen Matte, Shane Hinton, Shane Weekly and Troy Broussard. Tyler Kuykendall got probation. Matte was fined $5,000 and Hinton $2,000.
Some think illegal steroids are a victimless crime, other like Assistant US Attorney Collin Sims says otherwise.
"They're uneducated as to the physical and health effects that steroids can have. One such gentleman, who was a co-conspirator in this case, is on hormone therapy because he can't produce enough testosterone naturally. So his estrogen levels are high and he has a complete hormone imbalance as a result of abusing steroids," Sims said.
Another major player, Jordan Blake Berza is to be sentenced October 27th. Berza and Gass are co-owners of planet nutrition stores.
A minor player, Daniel Bosely, was previously sentenced and received probation.
