My son was bullied on the school bus 'cause he was smart & wore glasses. We followed all the protocol, bus driver (can't do anything), Principal & VP (we can't do anything), bully's parents laughed proudly in our faces and threatened us if we went to the sheriff. Sheriff said (can't do anything till something major happens). So, we enrolled bright son in karate & he learned to break a cinder block. The next time his glasses were being yanked off his face on the bus, he gave the bully a bloody nose w/ a quick jab to the face. He was never bothered after that. I tell all kids if you can't walk away and you have to fight, then fight to win. Forget detention, forget the school protecting you (not going to happen) but be prepared to fight hard and do damage. Bright son is now a lawyer working on other's behalf for justice and doing pro bono work in the church.
