Clearly not true, or we'd have more people voting and more people aware of what's going on in this country. The populace at large is blissfully unaware and ignorant. 64% of eligible voters voted in the last presidential election, which is more than at any time since the 60s, but my guess is that more than half of those were unaware of who/what they were voting for.
