Maybe a weight gainer shape would help?

Is she doing cardio or sports ?
How is she lifting ?

1200 cals may not be enough.....age? regimen? frequency of training? high impact? cardio etc?

Yup, what they said, 1,200 calories isn't going to help anyone gain anything.

I ate 1200 cals this morning for breakfast. I don't think that would be enough for any age to gain.

My cousin is a gymnast (like hardcore into it 30 hours/week between school) and she's 16 and ingests more than 3k/day broken up into 8-10 meals.....now, she's extreme and will most likely get a full D1 ride...... but even at 60% of her consumption is a 50% increase from what your daughter is taking.....

they're not off in size too much.

Nothing more to add that hasn't been said nor asked. More information would be a plus when seeking advice.

Need more info. Age especially.

If we go by those wonderful "Ideal Weight & Height" charts (e.g. http://www.rush.edu/rumc/page-1108048103230.html), for a female 4'10", "ideal weight" is between 81-99 lb. If she's 84 lb, then she's on the low end of that range. If the whole point is to gain mass, then you need to eat to fuel."Eats clean" doesn't mean much of anything w/o more detail - macros? any refeeds? etc.. Is she a hard gainer? Is she still growing (i.e. age please)? What does training look like? What is her typical day's activity level?

I hate to disagree with everybody but I don't think 1200 cal is too low for someone her size. I'd look hard at food quality and training. Is she doing alot of cardio? I'd say of she's trying to gain muscle then drop that or reduce it to a couple days of easy cardio 20-30 minutes tops, I'd prefer to drop it entirely. We definately need more info though. Compound movements, lots of rest, sleep is huge, possibly the most important factor. Red meat, fish, quality fats. If you can up the calories, fine, but you can only stuff so much food in such a small body. Overstressing her system with a shit ton of food won't help.
