3 plate bench today @ 53

2020 was a brutal year for me; 4 injuries and lots of downtime.

But I will never quit.

This time last year I benched 365 @ 52 years old. Today a measly 315, but it felt OK.

Same here!...I go to bed wanting to quit, but wake (if I mange to sleep) up keeping on, keeping on it....Something won't allow me to quit!...Nice lift...In my opinion, anything over 150lbs on bench press is strong!....Don't care what a person weighs!...

Bitter sweet, I know the feeling. When I get a little down about not being where I was at one time I take a quick reality check. How many 53 y.o. are singling 315 in the bench? Not many at all! No compare yourself to the average 53 y.o. out on the street and you'll really see the gap you put between yourself and them.

What do your hear from 99% of the guys who enter their first, even second PLing meet? "I'm just competing against myself". I tell them that's a good approach for now but one day, you will not be able to compete against that guy.

Keep the fight up and do not go quietly into the night!
