My overall goal was to come to the meet and leave with no energy, and that goal was accomplished thanks to my deadlift. I ended up going 8/9 in my lifts and achieved a 990 total. Which at my weight class (123), qualifies me to compete in the Arnold Classic next year.

350 squat
190 bench
450 deadlift (still can't believe this!)

I went into the meet, with a 940-950 goal and a hope that if everything went right, I might hit 965 total (340sq/185bn/440dead). A 990 total was my end of the year goal. But once I hit the 350 squat, I thought I had a chance for 990, but I needed to hit 190 bench (which I was less sure of than the 350 squat). And when that happened, before I could really plan on going for 990, I had the meet director in my ear telling me to go for 450 on my second attempt to get that Arnold qualifier lol ... at first, I thought that was crazy, because my 410 opener was pretty aggressive and that's a big jump to 450. I had wanted to hit 430 to reach the 3 1/2 times bodyweight pull (another goal of mine) so badly. But I told him if 410 goes up fast, I'll jump to 450.

Well, 410 didn't go up as fast as I had hoped. So I went to the judges table immediately to give them the number for my second attempt, and then met the meet director who told me that I should probably go for that 430 based on what he saw on my 410 pull.

I replied to him "I'm doing 450 next."

His eyebrows arched, and I went to go slam a Gatorade. My thinking was that I had one more good pull in me. There wasn't a 430, then 450 in me. Just one of them. And I was so close to that 990 Arnold qualifier, I knew I'd regret not knowing if I could get it.

I'm not sure if I'll compete at the Arnold. I think I'd get pretty overwhelmed. I like the comfort of a local meet. And no one really wants to see a 123er move "warm-up weight". But that 990 was something I wanted because it represented a milestone that's not based on just whole numbers.

Here are the videos (not great quality, but still watchable).

I was a little light-headed after my 450 pull, but recovered in a couple of minutes. I went for 460 on my last deadlift attempt, but was too depleted to move it more than an inch or two. Besides, a 1000 total is now my next goal, and I'd like to think I can get it pretty soon lol.

Chris I just wanted to add something.

Your weight is not warm up weight.

You only weigh 120 and you can pull 450 pounds from a stop off the floor.

You can basically squat two of yourselves.

And you can bench 1 and half of yourselves.

To me that's impressive.

If I weighed 120 I couldn't even THINK about those numbers.

If I weighed 200 those numbers would be big time intimidating!

You have a chance to go to the Arnold and show off your skill. If you want to go and have the opportunity, I would take it and go!

You'll be even stronger by then! You have 7 months to prepare!
